The Whisper in the Leaves was conceived three years ago as part of a collaborative project " If Trees Could Talk". It was further developed during an artist residency at Mount Barney Lodge in January 2024, where the three artists spent time immersed in rainforest and eucalypt ecosystems. The residency provided space for shared making, discussion, and field observation. Out of this period grew a cohesive body of work shaped by both individual practice and collective exchange.

Bronwyn Davies

Bronwyn Davies brings a mapmaker’s sensibility, combining vintage cartography,
stitching, and natural pigments to trace the cultural and environmental legacies
embedded in the Australian landscape.

Joolie Gibbs

Joolie Gibbs draws on years of research into the coastal forests and river systems
of the Wide Bay region, creating works that honour the persistence and quiet
intelligence of ancient species.

Shelley Pisani

Shelley Pisani explores the notion of interconnection through abstracted forms and layered surfaces
that suggest root systems and neural pathways.
